Message from the Desk of Nodal Officer

Multi-disciplinary Research Unit is an ambitious Scheme of GOI sanctioned through its 12th five year plan with an aim to promote indigenous quality research. A high level screening committee selected 74 medical colleges to be developed as Multi-disciplinary research units all over country. We are fortunate enough to get this opportunity for implementing the project in our Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa, M.P.

Our Dean Prof. P.C. Dwivedi is inclined towards Research and Development program and has given me this opportunity to conceptualize and implement policy brain child of Department of Health Research (MoHFW) to be embodied as the first functional unit in Madhya Pradesh. Our core area is Non Communicable Diseases; to investigate burden and to design strategy to reduce disease prevalence in our area. Till date we were able to meet the deadlines about infrastructure development, appointing human resources, constitution of RAC and launching seven research projects. In future I hope that our projects will bring novel insights to medical research.
